Apologize for being late, tell them it is not happen again/ you will not make it a habit of being late. If your on salary offer to stay later to make up for it. Most employers are reasonable about it, and with appreciate you apologizing.

Most employers will not get too upset if you are late for work once. If you are honest and explain what happened, you will probably not be in too much trouble. The trouble comes if you are late on a regular basis. Do what ever you need to do to make sure you get to work on time. Set the clock a little earlier to give yourself more time, or buy mulitple clocks and have them out of reach of the bed so you have to get up out of bed to shut them off.

The clock didn't go fast. If you use this as an excuse you won't be believed. (Does your boss have a sense of humor?) Become more responsible and get to work on time. Set your alarm clock for a little earlier time so you can get up and get ready.

Don't say your clock was fast... if anything that would mean your clock went ahead (ex: would say 8:30am when it was actually 8:00am) Which means that, if anything, you should have been early to work.

I would set your clock ahead by 20 minutes, not the alarm that way you will awake ahead of schedule and arrive at your job early.
