I always ask this question too . I don;t understand how RICH people just buy them selves nice stuff the bigger the better & to hell with everyone else.... the only rich person who is trying to help is Bill Gates....... but if the rich just gave a bit of their wealth a way it would help the starving & homeless & maybe help make this planet a better to place to live in.........

most think that there isn't any benefit for them. A case can be made that a better state of the world as a whole would have a positive effect for us. Not just some emotional i'm such a saint effect either but real world gains.
There are organizations such as the red cross, and united nations that are working in most these places. These organizations do not so much need money as they need leaders, engineers, doctors, and teachers, who are willing to live in bad conditions to try and help these people. They need plans, organizers and innovative solutions that can accomplish the grueling task of social engineering to turn these places from what they are into something more. It's hard enough to find big brothers to turn around our troubled youth, much less do this for an entire nation.

The biggest millionares are. Bill Gates set up the Gates Foundation to help out disadvanted people. Warren Buffet, one of the richest men in america, is giving away his whole fortune to charity! What more do you want?
Part of the problem is we send money to these 3rd world nations, and the corrupt government keeps it. It doesn't make sense ot keep sending money & aid if the government and its army won't let it go through.
And if these counties would just STOP their wars, there wouldn't be these problems. The people responsible for the wars are the people within the county... it's certianly not my fault tribes in africa can't get along.

Good question but it is not a matter of money. For you to volunteer someone else's financial security is wrong and selfish and should be rectified before you use your displacement as a rationale.
These countries are ruled by a governing body who adhere to their own beliefs. Understandably it is disgusting to see how someone can feel comfortable ruling over an impoverished people but say-la-ve. What these people need is education and an education that accommodates society and not themselves. What I am saying is these people who can not understand living standards be taught hygiene, music, and the unified system for their area.
They require clean water and food but also responsibility to keep it in their pants and this requires education with an ability to communicate if any indiscretions arise...

The control of Money/power/wealth is in my estimation the link as to why poverty everywhere is so prevalent! If everyone of mature and sane mindset had equal control access to Money/power/wealth then you would have a much greater and progressive society. USA should stomp-out their elite hidden ruling class and show the world we can be Number one again and change this dark-age mentality about who has and who has not based on what your connections are! Do not listen to the brain dead idiots whom say it is communism, its been tried before who will do the work etc etc, It is very clear the form of capitalism we have in USA does not provide for the majority financial security and happy, healthy lifestyles! The old saying you reap what you sow in our current society their is so much corruption/deception everything is so out of whack! You work hard here you just get taken advantage of no real piece of the pie will be transferred by way of true wealth!

Actually, many do found charities or give substantually to them. It's just that there are so many things in the world that need fixing, and even money can't do it all.
Also, many people beleive the old addage that "Charity begins at home", and will focus more on problems they can relate to and see first hand as having an effect.
Just a theory, mind you. Since I am definitely not a millionaire.

Bill Gates and his wife Melinda started the Gates Foundation. It's initial endowment represented a $29.2 Billion dollar committment. Thus far, $10.5 Billion has been committed to grants. Here is a quick overview of their focus....
"Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to reduce inequities and improve lives around the world. In developing countries, it focuses on improving health, reducing extreme poverty, and increasing access to technology in public libraries. In the United States, the foundation seeks to ensure that all people have access to a great education and to technology in public libraries."
Just a week or two ago, Warren Buffett, another famous US Billionaire/Capitalist donated $37 Billion of his own money to Gates Foundation.
In 2003, President Bush signed the HIV/AIDS act commiting the US to donating over $15 Billion to combat HIV/AIDS abroad. No other US president has committed so much money to HIV/AIDs prevention oversees.
There is lots of work and lots of money trying to aid.

Because people can be greedy, selfish, and just don't spare a thought for some things sometimes. However I heard of a man so rich he could do anything he wanted, and he was so sick of his riches he just went round in the street giving random people money and he makes lots of large anonymous donations to charity. However look at Michael Jackson's sucess; the media ruined that for him and now one of the richest celebrities in the world is bankrupt...proves how easily all of that could be taken away.

Why aren't those governments of those countries doing this themselves? They need to fix their own problems. Just sending them money, which has been done for years by many people have not fixed the problem. It's a cultural and political problem in those countries that's the real problem.

Because they did not earn it. Most of the countries where people are starving it is because of choices that were made by the people and or the government. Most of the millionaires made good choices and worked for it. Most of them do give to charities, but why should they live like paupers for people that do not help themselves.

What are you talking about? How do you know what a millionaire does or doesn't need? The key to ending poverty isn't to play Robin Hood and steal from the rich to feed the poor, the key is for the poor to make their own money. Bill Gates has already spent billions (his choice, not yours!) trying to help poor countries. He doesn't owe it to them, he just wants to help. Ultimately, people are responsible for their own problems.
