I am thinking Willis McGahee or Donovan McNabb

All depends on where you are (in relation to where you pick in round 1) vs. who might be available.

Under no circumstances do I recommend taking a WR or QB in round 2 of a 12 team league. If each team starts 2 RB, that's 24 out of the 32 starting running backs in the NFL. If you figure maybe the top 10-15 are of good quality, that means at the upper end of that 9 starting RB for teams are marginal at best. Or, think of it this way: do you really want Fred Taylor or Jamal Lewis, two players with injury histories, as your #2?

Like another poster said, people like Ronnie Brown, Carnell Williams, Brian Westbrook, and maybe even people like Rudi Johnson and Steven Jackson should be available. No matter what, you better go back-to-back RB....if you don't you are rolling the dice on someone like DeShaun Foster, Ahman Green, Fred Taylor or Corey Dillon to carry a full season load as your #2, which is highly unlikely. WR is the most unpredictable FF position, who thought Randy Moss would only get 8 TD's last year, yet a lot of people took him in round 1. I see a similar situation this season with Steve Smith. I doubt he matches his production of a year ago to warrant that high a pick.

As for QB's...you can find people like Mark Bulger, Ben Rothelisberger, Drew Bledsoe and Trent Green later on in the draft. You can wait usually until rounds 5 and 6 to grab a mid-tier QB. After Manning is gone it's really a toss-up. If Palmer comes back 100%, he'd probably be #2. You also have McNabb and Brady in that discussion too.

Bottom line...avoid McGahee unless he's available in later rounds (I saw him go as late as round 7-8 in a 10 team draft) and go with someone more reliable. This is even more important if you are drafting in the top 3, as when you pick again it will be in the 20's and a lot of the good RB will be gone. If you wait until it snakes around in round 4, you are going to be out of luck.

First, you've got to determine who went in the first round. The following list is the players who WILL go in every 12-team league first round:
Larry Johnson, RB
Shaun Alexander, RB
Ladainian Tomlinson, RB
Clinton Portis, RB
Tiki Barber, RB
Rudi Johnson, RB
Edgerrin James, RB
Steve Smith, WR
Peyton Manning, QB

Now, what are the scoring/roster rules in your league. 3 Wideout starters? You might see these three go also:
Terrell Owens, WR
Torry Holt, WR
& either Steven Jackson, RB or Lamont Jordan, RB

If you play in a QB heavy league, substitute one of the above wideouts for Tom Brady, QB or Donovan McNabb, QB. Owners should wait for Carson Palmer, since it takes a full year to recover from that injury enough to even play, much less be a star.

If neither of the above league types fits the description, then maybe these:
Terrell Owens, WR or Torry Holt, WR
Steven Jackson, RB or Lamont Jordan, RB
Larry Fitzgerald, WR or Cadillac Williams, RB

So, in short, if one of the above players is not picked in the first round in that format, then they are the best available at #13.

Looking at potential second round picks, I would seriously expect to see the following players there:

LaMont Jordan
Carnell "Cadillac" Williams
Steve Smith
Chad Johnson
Kevin Jones
Marvin Harrison
Julius Jones
Peyton Manning (if he has escaped the first round - but not likely)

In the second round, stick with either a solid RB or a top notch WR ... there will still be powerhouse QBs available in the later rounds. TEs are also making a resurgence, but you can also hold off on them as well until the 5th-6th rounds

Not Donovan. He is a good quarterback but he won't put up the points you need. Willis on the other hand I believe would be a very good pick. I think he will put a few good games maybe use him as your second runningback.

Go for one of the top-notch receivers like a Torry Holt, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, or a Larry Fitzgerald.
