There are no guarantees in this old world. 4.6 billion years and we've only been around about 10,000 years. So in the blink of a cosmic eye we are fly specks.
Not to worry, you will likely not be around to worry about the extinction event. In all likelihood, as with all long term geological events the earth's surface will change as it had throughout time, the arrogance of man is amazing. Specifically as it relates to idiots that purport mans influence on the planet. The earth has gone from 2500F to -240F over the last 4.5 billion years. In all likelihood something will make this occur again.
And microbes will be the top level species again for a billion years.

Dinosaurs a worse change of luck than we have today. A meteor wiped out most species while some survived and evolved into some animals we know today. We, humans, have already established an ecosystem and order. Back then, it was Darwin's Theory of Evolution playing with Pandora's Box and guess what? The Box opened Death which resulted in a genocide of Dinosaurs. Only some survived.

Yes, it is possible that some catastrophic event could wipe out all human life. It is more likely that we will do it to ourselves. Keep in mind also that NO other species on the planet has ever been in the position that it could completely wipe out all life on the planet...only humans have reached this level.
However, human beings have much greater intelligence than any other species on the planet. Our ability to leverage technology to inform us of impending danger could one day save our species. The dinosaurs had no way of preparing or defending themselves from an asteroid. Humans MAY be able to do so.

Extinctions occur every day, and it is only a matter of time before the human species disappears entirely. Whether this will be of our own doing or the result of the forces of nature, as was the case with the dinosaurs, cannot be foreseen, but such E.L.E's (extinction level events) are not altogether uncommon on the global timescale.

It is possible for the human race to extinct if planet earth becomes uninhabbtable because of nature disasters like fire, flood or if the earth freezes. Another way you can look at it is in world war 2, Adolf Hitler tried to annihilate the Jews. In other words extinct the jewish race, wipe out the jews out of the earth and he was really close to doing it. If the onfurtunate happens and we are ruled by another tyrant more power full than Hitler and no one can stop him, hey it can happen. Humans multiply them selfs by sexual reproduction every hour if not every minute all over the world, so hopefully it will never happen but oh, YES it can.

Most dinosaurs did not extinct but changed and evolved as species not just families. Some were killed some 63 million years ago, but most could be around as different kinds of humans, dogs and cows. I think of my ancestors and get to believe some 59 million years ago they were allosaurus and espelosaurus. Many have racial memory and use it fully. I learnt so much of my family and keep on it, no doubt some argue in the house, we converse. Bye.

There are huge differences between the muscle power and brain power of dinosaurs anf humans. Perhaps brainpower would allow enough humans to survive and repopulate the earth after a calamity than the dinosaurs were capable of. Also, dinosaurs produced no collective knowledge to help any few survivors.

Of course, it is possible. But not likely -- the dinosaurs died off because they could not adapt to the environmental changes which were probably caused by an asteroid hitting off the coast of Yucatan about 65 million years ago. Human beings, however, rely on intelligence rather than physical strength to survive. Since intelligence can be applied to almost any threat, I would estimate that the prospects for long-term survival of H. Sapiens are quite good.

The brain of the dinosaurs was simple in comparison to that of a human. But will we become extinct, YES more than likely we will be if society continues to rage war, against those of different belief's, color, creed, sexual orientation.

Why not? Anything is possible. And if dinosaurs hadn't been wiped out would we be here now? It could be a Triceratops (sp?) typing this =P
