I know you said to only answer if you know, but Springfield is nowhere. It is never referenced in conjunction with a state. There is a great site that goes episode by episode and season by season list all clues to it's whereabouts, but no definitive answers are possible.
Don't know about Neds.

They could be from any state. There is a Springfield in every state. The creators of that show made it that way on purpose. They hint that it might be Illinois or Kentucky, but they live close to a harbor, so these land lock states are not likely. So there is no answer.

They don't. The Simpsons don't live in a real American state. No state has all of the natural landforms and other natural aspects of Springfield (which is literally the name of a city in just about every single state, not just Illinois); it's all made-up.

Simpsons live in Springfield KY..it was a quick line at the end of an episode...they were sitting ion lawn chairs on a hill over their house looking out towards shelbyville..

lives in spring field and they never go to the beach
in reality spring field can be found in illinois
so they probaly live in Springfield, IL
