Physical violence is never recommended or tolerated under any circumstances, but is it more socially acceptable for a woman to hit a man than vice versa? If a woman hits, does she deserve to be hit back?

no one deserves to be hit or be hit back. however, if you do hit first you can legally be hit back in self defense. but if you want to really help matters don't hit in the first place because violence to answer violence doesn't solve any problems in fact in perpetuates them. so tell the woman don't hit the man and tell the man if he is a real man to just walk away.

I don't think a woman has any more right hitting a man. Yes, man are considered a lot stronger physically, but it doesn't give a woman any more right to do it because she's a woman. That's totally taking advantage of the situation. An abused woman would know exactly how it feels mentally and physically to go through something like that, it feels the same way for a man also. A woman that does this obviously needs the same help as a man that abuses a woman. Some women are very head strong and tends to be the men in relationships. Some are just abusive. For the man I personally think this is weakness in his character. I know love plays a part when people don't leave the abuser. They all seem to think this person will get better and they will change, but the abuser has to figure this out for themselves and want to change. It's never ok for any human being to abuse another person because after all we all are human.

I don't agree with any type of violence despite the gender, but yes I think it is more socially acceptable for a woman to hit a man than vice versa.
I am a woman, and whatever the gender maybe, I treat them how I would like to be treated.
Whatever the circumstances maybe-A REAL man would never hit a woman-period.

Socially for a man to be hit by a woman, he is 'weak'. But the main thing is that no one has the right in a man- woman relationship to hit.
If for some reason it has happened the victim should find the cause of the problem and try to solve that. If hitting has happened more that once - RUN!!!
Once can be a mistake, more that that is a habit!

Many people will say here, "If the girl hits the guy, he probably deserved it." This is NOT true. Women can be just as abusive as men, and this attitude means it won't stop.
A guy should never hit a woman back, except as self defence so that he can remove himself form the situation, but there should be no hitting in a relationship period, from either partner.

My belief is that a woman should never put herself into the position of being hit by hitting first. Many women believe that they can slap a man around as much as they want and shouldn't be hit back because of the "never hit a woman" rule. If they put themselves in that position then they should be prepared for a smack.

Any woman who slaps a guy deserves to get hit back, and vice versa. If she's too stupid and immature to control her anger, she is just as a bad as a guy who hits. Absolutely no difference on any level.

Depends on why she hit him. If it's an argument she has no right to strike him, and neither does he.
If he offended her with a sexual advance she wasn't into or in some jerky way offended her then she has every right to teach him the error he has just made, he has no right to strike back.
A man should never strike a woman, I had a girl the liked to hit once. I would just grabe her arms, restrain her untill she calmed down enough to not hit me, that is the only thing a gentleman would do, but never strike a woman back.
Unless it's unprevoked and she just hit him, thenhe has a right to strike with an open hand, once.

A woman has no right to hit a man either...Unless of course he's hit her first --then she does have a right to knock the crap out of him....but it's just as disrespectful for a woman hit a man as it is vise versa. Yes, if she hits she deserves to be hit back. Men just need tobe aware of their strength and not seriusly hurt her....people just shouldnt do it period.....

Nobody should hit anyone. If a woman hits a man, the man should leave the relationship. She needs counseling.
