I have it. I've had it for the last 5years. I went throught the same thing...drepressed, crying, embarassment...

I've done so much research on this diease. I've tried everything out there.

One thing that I tried was Chinese Herbal Medicine. I was skeptical that this could actually work. But it actually does.

I've met many people on the street who see that I have vitiligo and they tell me how they tried this method and it worked for them.

I've been doing this for a few months. The progression of depigmentation stopped within the first 2 1/2 weeks of using the herbs.

While on the Chinese Herbal Medicine, I went on vacation to Cuba. (I should mention I USUALLY stay away from the sun), but when I was there I was in the sun all day. Anyway, when I can back I noticed huge patches of skin had repigmented. In one week I had repigmented an enormous amout.

I think it was a combanation the the herbal medicine and vitamin D (sun).

If you do some more online reseach, you'll come across dozens of reasons why people THINK this diease occurs. All I can tell you is for myself it was an internal imbalance. My body and blood needed more nutrients that I was giving it. The herbs helped me stimulate better circulation and is keeping me a healthier person all around.

Oh...And if you want to cover it up use Dermablend make-up. It has great coverage...will stay on all day...won't wash off if you go swimming... Contact them at the wesite below for a store near you. i called them...they'll answer you right away.

Hey, I feel for you. I suffer from vitiligo, too. Well, first off, don't fall for any type of oral remedies you may read about on the Internet - none of that stuff works. Go see a dermatologist. I have heard about laser treatments you can get but don't know how expensive they are. Here are couple of links for support groups. Keep your chin up - When life hands you lemons, learn to make lemonade! Good luck to you.

Here is a great website to learn all about it!

Remember that beauty is skin deep, and there is no need to stress about flaws...

I have some on my arm so I make sure to keep it covered with sunscreen when I go out....

Again, talk to a professional, check out the website and good luck!

I don't have it but I went to school for skincare and a couple ideas are,A Topical Steroid called psoralen...it is used with artificial ultraviolet treatments in attempt to repigment the skin. In serious cases there is a medication called monobenzone that causes depigmentation of the skin meaning it takes out all your pigment...this is premanent. Just a couple ideas, but I would talk to your Doctor. Hope this helps.
