I declared my independence from the false ideals and values that my parents tried to instill me with, but that in reality I do not agree with. It took way too long (I'm 39 years old) but I'm embracing my own set of ideals and values now, and not worrying about what my parents/siblings/other friends will think of me.

I was driving home from the lake. I didn't want to have anything to do with fireworks. They scare me, but I did see a rainbow. And boy was it beatiful. Full in its color and going from one end of the hurizone to the other. So wonderous.
