You can make a simple cough remedy by boiling one lemon slowly for approximately 10 minutes. This will soften the lemon so that it will be juicier, and it will also soften the rind. Cut the lemon in two parts and extract the juice with a lemon squeezer. Put the juice into an ordinary drinking glass. Add two tablespoonfuls of glycerin. Stir the glycerin and lemon juice mixture well, then fill the drinking glass with honey. (Glycerin can be purchased from your local druggist or pharmacy.)

I'll help you but just to remind you that bad coughs don't necessarilly mean you have to be in the women's health page lol.
To stop bad coughs you ahve to get some dried crushed herbs( mint, walnut leaves, and lemon juice(juice not lemonade) and mix them all in boiling water, after the water cools down the water colour wil change and will smell like green tea, get the herbs out and drink the water, your cough will stop within a few days:)
Goodluck!

If you don't want to go and see an doctor you can go to Eckerd Drugs Pharmacy and let them know what kind of cough it is and how often it is and they will give you a prescription for. But it will be best to see a doctor to make sure you don't have anything that causing this really bad cough.

Pertussis aka Whooping Cough is going around alot, I would suggest you ask to be tested it is a quick swab and than they give you antoibotics if you have it or as a precaution and after 5 days of treatment you are no longer considered contagious, Pertussis is very contagious and can be deadly to infants please get it checked out.
The Cdc also reccomends all adolscents and adults receive a Pertussis booster vaccine as well so I reccomend that for everyone.

if you have a post nasal drip that is causing your cough, you may have a cold and benadryl will help dry up that post-nasal drip. sleep propped up, no milk or dairy products, plenty of clear liquids, and watch for fever.
if you smoke or are exposed to chemicals/fumes, you may have bronchitis and need a cough suppressant
if you have inhaled a foreign body, you need to have that investigated.
