I think they are a threat. It's only till after something bad has happened when everyone says this needs to be taken care of. But I think Japan is more scared then we are(US). And it's sad how people say that the gov't is playing the "get the public scared" card. The world is a threat to our national security and we need to open up our eyes before something worse the 9/11 happens.
They did say on the news that the Chinese also called up for the UN meeting, that puts people on thier toes. B/c when China gets scared, that's when we know **** is going to hit the fan.

While their missiles had some failures, they can learn from those failures and produce better missiles. Also, considering that they are experimenting with ICBMs (Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles) with payload capacities, they may have a suitable launching platform for their nuclear weapons. Hence, they are a threat, not just to the US, but also other nations in the area.

No! They are a really poor nation that we have had a choke hold on for a long time! They are starving to death many of them!
They aren't a threat. They don't have the capability to hit anything, or even put a nuke on a missile!
Wonder how many Trident subs are off their coast?

Not to the US directly. They are more of a threat to S Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
It knows if it attacks the US, we would wipe it off the map (unless of course, China or Russia steps in, which would certainly complicate things). The more likely scenario/question is how the US would respond if it attacked S. Korea or Japan, for example. Would we go to war over it? Would you want to be drafted to go fight on the Korean peninsula?

Both North Korea and Iran are significant threats due to the nuclear weapons programs they've paid Pakistan's A.Q.Khan to develop for them. As long as each country has money and motivation to procur components and as long as other nations are willing to sell them what they need, they will remain a threat, both to their immediate neighbors through their own aggession or to the world-at-large by making WMDs available to terrorists.

They have NUCs!!! YES they are a threat, and they are dangerous.
The poor people suffering in North Kirea matter a lot less to me than the fact that a long range missile can reach AMERICA, and if one does, we will all be suffering.

After what happened yesterday afternoon, the answer is a resounding yes! Kim Jong-Il is ready to provoke the Orient with his childish behavior. I think if he wants to launch one of his missiles to Japan, rest assured we have some of our Patriot missile batteries to keep them at bay.

Yes, they are threat. They have no scruples and are a backward evil regime. They have stated (just like Iran) that they don't care if they have to destroy the world to get their way...
