For girls who have been raped/molested/assaulted. Did you report it? If not, why?

I am not asking for me (see my 360 blog)
I am asking out of curiosity(?) wanting to know just how underreported this is.

Since no one on here knows me ----- I was molested by an uncles friend when I was like 6 or 7 and was raped on my 15th birthday by a much older man (he was late 30's - early 40's) I never told anyone about either time (I told my husband and only a few friends about the rape) because - I was embarrassed and young and stupid. I started to wonder if maybe I asked for it - without realizing what I was doing...... Plus, no one ever believes the girl when they do tell, I didn't have bruises or anything, so who would believe a kid?
Now, I know better - but I am also an adult now.

Report it.No joke.It can hurt you to TRY.You can also tell the police you dont feel safe. You feel like the guy might come after you.And they can do something about that as well.
Im not admitting to anything(or am i?).But its just friendly advice from a stranger.
The process of reporting it can take a good amount of time. And if they do catch the guy you'll feel better.I know you wont feel the same as you did before. But its much better than holding it in and hurting yourself. The Statue of Limitations runs up after 6 months. So if your going to do something about it.Do it before that time is up!
I wish i had reported it a few years ago.I regret it every day of my life.

I was molested growing up by a cousin. No I did not report it because he said that he would kill my parents. I did tell them later on in life. I think it was 5 or 6 years later. And I have never seen him since. And now that my parents know he better hope that he never shows up to any family gatherings.

I never reported it, and I wish I did. I told my mom after six years of going through the abuse. My mother did nothing. Why I don't know. For a long time I blamed it on me, and then I got some counseling. It still hurts today, but I'm a lot better now. Please even though, I didn't have the courage I want you to. Even if your mother doesn't help you, you need to report them because this needs to stop.

As the father of one, REPORT IT. Period. The man who molested my daughter died before she would say one word about it. It took 10 years to get that first word out of her mouth. From that moment she's been in therapy. Not a nice picture with happy endings. So, my advice REPORT it and as soon as possible.

No!! i was very young when it began and didn't know any better. I told my mom when I was 12 or 13, but nothing was done. I guess she didn't want the negative attention. That why it is always important to talk to your kids because if she had just asked I would have told.

I need 2 comment here so please bear with me.
THERE IS NOBODY WHO HAS ANY JUSTIFICATION TO RAPE OR MOLEST ANYOTHER PERSON (MALE OR FEMALE). SO IF YOU HAVE BEEN MOLESTED IN ANYWAY YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REPORT IT.U SHOULD NEVER FEEL THAT YOU R 2 BLAME . MEN WHO MOLEST WOMEN DO NOT DESERVE TO BE CALLED MEN!!!AND VISE VERSA.
