i purchase a dell laptop at the swapmeet for 1/4 of the original price when i took it home i cant get into the bios

Try this...remove all the plugs and cables from your computer system.

Open your CPU.

Look on the mother board and remove the "watch battery for at least 30 minutes.

Replace the battery and cover to the CPU.

Replace all cables and cords

This should have resetted your BIOS thus not requesting a password.

This process worked for me using a Compaq and a Gateway.

There is a boot cd called access administrator that enables you to go in to your computer through the bios and change the password when it boots with specific commands.

why did you buy it at a swapmeet??? Try resetting the password...when you turn it on, you can try going in setup (F2) and resetting it that way...If that doesn't work, try reinstalling windows, If you have a copy..Stuff that you didn't et when you bought the laptop.

If you can afford to lose all your info then when you turn on your comp. and the DELL logo appears hold down ctrl then F8 if F8 donsn't work try F9-F12

it should have a password reset button. but you will have to find out where it is. EXPs have them
