This may sound strange, but I have developed this philosophy lately and instead of it being comforting as some may think it should be It is absolutely horrifying to me. The concept of "oneness" worries me terribly. I have been viewing the world this way recently but it is rather depressing to think of us all truly being one --- "god in different expressions"...what if God is simply the energy that existed in the beginning of existence (or always) and simply exploded into seperate expressions? See what I'm saying? I look around me, at my boyfriend, my family, friends, everyone and feel like it is all an illusion ...like everyone is really me, and I them ...and we are all truly one, just in different expressions. Then, I think...if we are all one ..we all must eventually lose each other and go back to one ....and that is a sad thought to me. LIke "God" is truly a very lonely concept...how could there be more than 1 beginning point to start at and go back to? See what I mean...

Here is a poem I wrote when I started viewing the world through the "oneness lens":
False Indentity
Union of make believe
Broken trust
From two-faced love
The time has come
To become one
Back to who I always knew
Loss is life
And love means loss
Even if you love alot
There is no way to win the fight
When trying to change
This two-faced life
Just become one
Like the Sun
Back to who
You always knew

Actually, I don't know if this one is going to help, or make matters worse, but....you could always ditch the binary "one and zero" thinking in exchange for a more trinary model that has room for three positions or states (at least). Let me explain my inspirations first, then where I think this could help.

--Recently in neuroscience it has been suggested that in computational terms the human brain and central nervous systems *might not* be computers at all, but more like a massive and specialized *memory processing* network. The basis for this hypothesis.....?

The fact that neurons behave less like binary switches in a computer and more like galvanic batteries with *three* basic states of operation as regards data:

1) The discharge state, which could be counted as a One.
2) The inactive state, which could count as Zero, since nothing is going on in terms of data throughput, and....
3) The Recharge state, which could be counted as a Minus One since it absorbs discharges from "One State" Neurons.

--And in Quantum Physics, there is also the principle of "superposition" as regards data. You know, the Schroedinger's cat thing? Well, it gets more complicated than just saying whether that Cat In the Box With a Lump of Raduim is Dead or Not. There are more than *two* outcomes possible, and if I recall my reading on this correctly, it is correct to say that possibly *three and a half* options exist:

Imagine all Quantum-scale possibilities (which are relevant as regards human consciousness to the degree that we accept that human consciousness and/or thought is an electro-magnetic phenomena as well as a bio-chemical one) as follows.

You have a *sphere* of Possibility.

For any given data point, the One State is at the North Pole. This is the "Yes" option.

The Zero State is at the Core of the sphere, the exact central/averaged value. This is the "No" option.

At the South Pole, lies your Minus One, or Anti-Yes option, which may or *may not* be the same as "No". As this relates to Schroedinger's cat, this would be the "undead" option, as in the cat has sucked in so much radiation that while it is no longer alive by our sense of the term, it still exists and *functions* on its own terms in spite of that...the "zombie" Cat In The Box, as it were.

And then there is the *whole rest of that sphere of possibility to consider.* Meaning all the numbers that *can* exist between One and Minus One for any given data point.

Meaning? The Cat in that Box could be:

--Alive,
--Dead,
--Undead, or
--Any/all of the above in any *number* of combinations.

And the kicker? We won't know it until we open the box up and *see*, and in that process *decide* for ourselves. Because the act of "seeing" is actually what triggers the process of ending a superposition and bringing it into focus, a.k.a. reality.

So how does this apply to your "oneness" problem? It can be applied in many ways, but the basic idea is this....

If we assume that your consciousness, or the electro-magnetic byproduct of your bio-chemical metabolism of thought, has any permanence at all apart from the biology of your cerebral and neural metabolisms, and we assume that the *data throughput* of that field as phenomena can in fact be reduced to a single data point (and such compression would be a necessity if we were "all of God" or "all of One" at any point at all in the grand scheme of existence), then as long as we are alive and *do NOT* know what that data point is, and don't know how we compress into that single thought that is *ourselves*....we exist in superposition in terms of raw data.

Meaning, we can be, at least:

--Who we are,
--Nobody,
--Who we are NOT.

At the very least as those encompass the 1, 0 and -1 possibilities, and presumes that we can't combine those states once our data set is re-compressed (and also assumes such prior compression existed and can be repeated).

So....how *do* we keep ourselves from becoming either "nobody" or "Who we are NOT" upon our deaths?

We end the superposition by finding who we ARE while we yet live. We find out exactly *what data point* above all others our thoughts as field effect reduce to. We find *our* thought, in the sense that we find the one thing about Focus, a.k.a. Reality, that is ultimately and qunitessentially *ourselves*, if that makes any sense.

One data point that is ME all over, through and through and nobody else. One single subject/verb/object sentence, one meme, one concept, that *defines* you as the data throughput of your existence not just as a metabolic organism for the body is temporary, but as an electro-magnetic field effect that can be replicated and preserved apart from that body...

Am I making sense or has your head just exploded? Or both? Or neither, averaging the results?

Don't worry, there is only oneness of purpose. Your individuality is real and priceless, that is why once you share a moment of oneness is so special, such as the act of love where two become one. There would be no purpose to this universe if oneness was more than an almost unachievable ideal. For those of us who know of a higher state, glory or existence, oneness is very much desired, a state where unity of purpose will bring joy, and where our individual joys will be enhanced because of our surroundings and those amongst us. Since man discovered the different spectrum of light, our world, our universe and the way we look at life has become larger than what we can see and feel with our senses. In one time or another we all feel a need for more, tha is why we must understand our purpose, understand where we came from and where we are going, but if one does not have the answers to these questions, it is easy to get lost in one's own misguided view of things. Without purpose we are nothing, and it is easy to loose sight of what we are and our reason to go on.
Why do we do it? Why do we get up in the morning? why even continue living if we have no purpose?

Find your purpose, find your origin and you'll see what life is all about.

One eternal round, no beginning and no end.

Our mind does not yet understand how it works, how is it possible for something to have no beginning and no end, only through purpose you'll understand, only when you have given your self to a cause will you be rid of such feelings of loneliness and oneness and purposelessness.

I have found my origin, but not my beginning since there is none, I know of my purpose but I can not see the future, I know what awaits me, and there will be no end to me.

Whoa, that's like... deep man. You're totally blowing my mind.

Interesting idea, certainly could be the basis for a major religion, but unfortunately, it's one of those great ideas that probobly can't be tested, and might never prove useful in technological development. Really interesting though.

My head exploded, but I'm back now. It kind of makes sense, though, when you think about stuff like ESP. I personally know people with ESP, and they are twins from the same egg. So if everything comes the same proverbial egg (i.e. god), why shouldn't it work the same way?

Dear Malissa,
Do not try to control what you can't catch ever, no matter how clever you are.
Accept the oneness of the Almighty and experience the love of your boyfriend, family and friends.
Be happy.
