My favorite book growing up was Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. It's an excellent book and once you start, you won't be able to put it down.
Harry Potter series if you havent read them yet, although I don't think any teenager can say that still.
"Howl’s Moving Castle" is awesome. It just won an Oscar this year after being made into an Animation movie.
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. If you like the HP series or Lord of the Rings you will like this book guaranteed.
One of my friends recommends Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I'm not sure who it's by and haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but it sounds pretty interesting.
Try some classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and Fried Green Tomatoes. They're both brilliant.
Chronicles of Narnia. Check the book out- it's much better than the movie [which was also done quite nicely actually]
Check out the link below, it's from a neat site called BOLT where you should be able to actually get some information about books. If you register as a member you can post questions on the boards and ask people the same question you just asked me :) with a lot more answers probably.

This may sound cliche, but Nancy Drew books are great for teens. However, I found an author that writes books that I absolutely loved as a teen and I even used them in my Adolescent Literature class in college. They are by Tamora Pierce. She writes a few different series, but they are all really good.

I loved the shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella!! There are four of them Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic takes Manhattan, Shopaholic ties the knot, and Shopaholic and Sister!! Her other books were good too but those were my favorite!! Another good author is Meg Cabot!! I love her books too!!

Inkheart!I love that book.. It may look thick and seem boring, but once you read it, it is awesome! It is filled with... stuff. A little bit of sadness, drama, and stuff like that. The book is made for people who loves books.. Another one is The Files Of Madison Finn by Laura Dower. I LLOOVVEE her books! A little bit of romance, bffs, arch enemy, real life.
