Has anyone been to Sicily before?

Question

I'm going to Sicily for a holiday with a friend I can't wait, any suggestions on where good pubs, clubs, shopping, historical sightseeing?

I have and i absolutely loved it! Mind you i'm older than you so clubs ... But my son did go clubbing! It was in Palermo but i couldn't tell you the name of the club! You find some beautiful beaches, unspoilt countryside and we visited Trapani, Agrigento, Siracusa and Catania. You find a mix of historical sightseeing, shopping and beautiful sites everywhere! And people there are absolutely lovely! We do not speak italian but lots of them spoke a little english and were so helpful and kind! In fact twice we got chatted to by sicilians and ended up invited to their house for dinner! They wouldn't take no for an answer either. We had a laugh to because first family invited us looked very much like your families out of Godfather (The movie) and our host told us to call him Sonny!!! He had spent a few years in America so we both thought "Corleone?" But no! Nothing to do with the maffia! Food is really lovely too but watch out as wine is mighty strong!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. In fact we'regoing back next year!!! That's how much we loved it.

Sicily is a wonderful place to visit ; there are lots of historical and touristic places, go to Palerme if you want to see a nice city and if you have time, just walk in the streets where there are less tourists, it's quite surprising. You should also go and see the Etna and spend there an afternoon to walk around the volcano. Have a nice journey !

I have. I was there for only one day, however, I loved Mt. Etna & Taromina. Alot of shopping there, however, its very touristy. Messina is great when it hits noon, go to the bell tower & watch! A fantastic island.
