Breath control is very important in swimming, for all strokes

there is no way to get good at breath control, without practice.. sorry no short cuts here.. you must train your body to perform without oxigen, and you must push your lungs to take as much air as possible

how do you do this?
here are some ways:

Lung Busters: very popular these days.. you must hold your breath for x number of strokes.. normally 3-5-7-9 is used.. where the first 1/4 you breathe every 3.. then every 5.. etc.. This drill will help you expand your lungs by taking in big breaths

Hypoxic swimming.. very important for sprinters, breastroke, backstroke and fly.. ( not d free ). You need to teach your body how to work without air.. to develop it, you need to do 25s without breathing .. 25s underwater.. 15m pushoffs as fast as you can.. long streamlines. Tennessee turns ( underwater from 5 meters out to 10 meters push offs ) All these things will help you develop them

Just remember, NEVER do this alone, when you start blacking out.. STOP! and be careful.. dont over do it or you can hurt yourself, pace yourself and you will be much better

When you are under water breath out, that way when you are ready to take a breath there is room for the oxygen. You don't have to worry about getting carbon dioxide out of your mouth when you need a breath.

i have the same problem, granted i am not a very fast swimmer...i remember one of our coach's drills was to do 50s or 100s or whatever and once you get to the backstroke flags or when the lane rope changes color, you dont breathe until you do a flipturn and pass the flags or rope up again...not sure if it will help but maybe worth a try :) good luck

Learn to breath correctly using your abdomen - the way babies do. Practice this technique out of the water and then learn to do this in the water. You can find more specific answers if you go to ASK.COM and search for swimming breathing.

even as respiration out you're liberating carbon dioxide besides and oxygen, thats why cpr works, as you body does not convert each and each and every of the oxygen to carbon dioxide once you breath, even as general in nostril out nostril, even as exercising people have a tendency to need to breath by skill of their mouth, yet one might want to breath from nostril to mouth. become hoping that helped.
