What is it that makes a poet want to write or inspires an artist to create art?

What inspires the poets out there? Life, love, surroundings? What inspired the great painters or sculptors to create? What inspires you?

Feelings that come from the heart help to express the human condition through spoken word & inspire an artist to create a materpiece by painting ,sculpture etc.

I concidor my self some what of an artist and when ever I have writers block or am drawing a blank at the canvas, some times I read a little. If you are a visual person this will inspire your imagination to create scenes and feelings that you wouldent have staring at a blank canvas. And when i'm writing poetry or a short story or somthing and keep drawing a blank going out side or doing somthing that youve never done usaully gets the creative juices flowin. Sex is really good for any kind of mind block as well. It release indorphines wich stimulate your mind and activates parts of your brain that are usaully low in activity. I do not claim to be a poet, but I love writing it. Things that occur around me, life, death, beauty, memories all add to the tapestry: I intend to leave several for after I die (and I am not morbid): Like where I want my ashes scattered:

The Vale of Clara.

Cast my dust to the four winds, beside a Wicklow Hill,
In a lonely vale, beside a stream where all around is still.
Where the silence is only broken, by some wild bird’s call,
Where small brown trout, play freely about, above the waterfall.

Beyond the bridge, a chapel stands, as white as snow can be,
There, light some penny candles, for past friends and for me.
Then say a prayer that I may rest, where peace will me enfold,
And ask my God, if he sees fit, to have mercy on my soul.

And in the distant future, my one and only wish,
Is that a great, great grandchild, shall wander there to fish.
And if by chance, a trout is caught, just gently set it free,
Then this sweet vale, will Heaven be, forever more to me.
