One word: Money

For some reason he felt unappreciated with an offer that would only have made him the highest paid player in Pistons' history.

I really thought he was different than that. I really thought he wanted to stay in Detroit.

Guess I was wrong.

At least Stevie Y is leaving town in the right way.

Money...but I'm sure there were other factors.

If it were me, I'd take the money and run. This is his last chance to get a major deal out of anybody, seeing as how he's 32 years old. Why not take it? He's already won a championship.

Also, I heard a rumor that his brother was involved in the Ron Artest brawl and that though his court case was thrown out, he was banned from the Palace. When Ben Wallace asked them to let him back in, they refused.

I don't know how true that is, but that's the rumor I heard.

Either way, I think at this point in his career, if he gets offered a 15 million dollar deal where he'll get paid 18 million a year by the end of the deal, he should go for it.

Simple he wanted more money. I bet if the Hawks or other team offer him a 4 year contact for 80 millions dollars he will take it. He has a better chance to ring another ring with the Pistons than the Bulls but people in the NBA don't really care about winning a ring because it is always about the money.

Because Detroit sucks. And....
A) Detroit has not been the same team that they were when they won it all.
B) Chicago is a very young team and has a lot of time to improve (even though they want a championship NOW!)
C)Chicago offered $11 million more.

Ben Wallace was reportedly disappointed with the Piston's offer.. Hey, I guess the Pistons think they can win another championship without him (being that they offered him lower than what he wanted).. If you're a Detroit fan, kiss your championship hopes goodbye..

The Pistons are falling apart. There are rumors of Ben Wallace going to Chicago, but there are no definite's. Since he is a free agent, there are many possibilities as to what could become of his career.
