It depends on the type of box you use, grade of wiring and how many strands, and what kind of posts you use. It's fairly inexpensive when compared to other fencing...normally in the $200 range. It holds up really well. We use electric for all of our cross fencing and also around the barbed wire to keep the horses off and there is very little maintenance. My only suggestion would be to not use fiberglass posts or plastic tighteners...spend the little extra for plastic staked posts and metal tighteners, it will be worth it.
