thank you guyz but i forgot to mention that the modem type that i have is a 4 port. does that mean that i can connect the 2 PCs without doing the network stuff or is it the same as sharing a dial-up connection

You don't need any special wires to have your DSL connection working. DSL transfers data on the same medium telephone system does, copper wires. Internet data is transferred over a frequency range different from that is used for phone calls; so they do not interrupt each other and you can use both simultaneously.
For sharing a DSL connection, you have to do some network settings. It is almost similar to sharing a dial-up connection; so if you have got any experience on that, you could do this in a very similar way too.

What you need is the software to access a dsl connection. The modem (hopefully the phone company will offer this) should come with the appropriate connections. Many of the newer computers (within 3 years) already have a network card. you need a router to share the connection.

Well, you need two kinds of wires. One is a regular phone line that will connect from the wall phone jack to the DSL modem. The other is a network cable (cat 5) looks slightly thicker than a regular phone line (this will connect from the DSL modem to your computers network card). Now if you want to share that connection with other computers in your network, you will have to connect the network cable from the DSL modem to your network hub or switch instead of your computer. Then you will connection each computer to teh hub or switch to use the internet connection. I hope this helps.
