How do I let go of my body-image complex and start enjoying my life? I always worry about what I eat, how I look, whether other would approve of me...I'm tired of measuring myself by the media's standards...how do I get rid of the constant self battering? I am - according to my friends - an attractive girl

You are unique. What thing do you have or see on yourself that you think is unique to you? Focus on this and let yourself believe, that it is what makes you unique. If you have noticed, the idea of beauty-as potrayed by the media- is constantly being modified as and when it pleases someone. Big butts were not a 'thing of beauty' till J-lo came along with big butts and a publicist decided this is what will sell her, the media caught on, disseminated the info till people began having butt implants. Big lips were a no no some time ago till Jolie came on the scene and now all of sudden lip injections have boosted in the cosmetic industry. Before you know it something new is going to come along very soon.

We are basically thinking what someone wants us to think. But you can turn that around for yourself. You can think what you want yourself to think. You can start with one thing you consider a flaw that is making you have a low-self esteem and make that your 'unique'. You said according to your friends you are attractive, but it seems you do not believe that yourself. How about asking your friends to let you know one thing physically about you they consider attractive. And then you make your self see it as well. If you are constantly looking at people and seeing what makes them physically prettier than you, how about what makes you physically pretty too?
As the saying goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. If the first beholder-YOU- does not see the beauty, no one else will.

Learn to love yourself. Start believing that you are attractive. Every person is beautiful in their own way. Start making yourself happy and not the people around. If they don't approve of how you look then they can deal with that. Ignore what they say because it really doesn't matter, they are just trying to bring you down. Looks aren't everything, in fact it's nothing. Once you grow older those looks that you've worked so hard for will vanish. Focus on your personality not your looks. Just have fun the way you are and be happy with it. You're prefect the way you are.

If everyone says that you are a good-looking girl then why don't you start believe in this??You should like yourself the way that you are.First you should never say words like ''I don't like my self", ''I am not a good-looking person", ''I don't like my body" etc.You just have to convince yourself that the natural is more beautiful and that no one is perfect.Every person has some part of his body that he dislikes. But you should learn to deal with this and always repeat to yourself that you are a beautiful person not just from the outside, but also in the inside.Stand in front of the mirror and always see first the things that are beautiful on you, on your face etc.
Best wishes

LOVE yourself. Don't measure yourself by the media's standards. Spread your love and goodness to others. You will discover your beautiful self.

i guess you're feeling this way because of low self esteem and self confidence. just accept yourself for who you are and you'll feel much better. others also like people who don't act like they're someone they're not. just dun try so hard to make yourself look better, especially since your friends say you're good looking. be yourself. you never know who is falling in love with your original smile rather than the fake one..enjoy being yourself. its all in the mind..good luck
