A rocket never landed on the moon, but the lunar module landed on July 20, 1969.

If you look at it from a positional standpoint then it would be on the first day of the lunar month because if the moon does not rotate then it is perpetually on Day 1. Every Lunar landing was technically on the first day of the month and probably will be quite some time.

I'm assuming your asking what day of the week did the space shuttle first land on the moon. The answer to that would be: Sunday, July 20, 1969

(I just got an email about this answer...I stand corrected. ...

[From: LoneStar

Subject: Space Shuttle

Message: Better re-check your answer. The shuttle is incapable of landing on the moon. It was the Lunar Module, from the Apollo series. ] Thank you LoneStar) :))

Boy o boy I remember that day, one of my boyhood dreams was coming true right before my eyes, after reading Verne and lots of S.F. it was the climax. I was in Berkley, CA. and most of the stores had T.V.'s in their windows and had little crowds of people in front, I was walking from store to store sharing the amazement and enthusiasm of the people, I happened to see a large crowd of people and walked over, to my amazement their focus was on two dogs in the heat of passion stuck together.Summer time, and I think Joe Cocker was at the Filmore.

*Big sigh* It was July, 1969. I was 8 years old, and it seemed it was on a Tuesday or a Wensday.

I do remember looking up to the sky and thinking "WOW"
