Lets get to serious problem-solving. The soul is basically a quantity of energy--- the energy that is created during the zygote formation, that which helps the existence and maintenance of the physical body.
When this energy departs from the mortal remains, the person is said to be dead. This is in total conjunction with the LAW OF CONSERVATION OF ENERGY.
