I am so much happier with my second marriage. I waited 20 years betwwen marriages though. I was only 17 the first time and 37 the second time. THe fist time I was only married for 18 months and had a baby girl. Fast forward and I married thebest guy. Plus he did not have any children now we have our own little boy. I would advise not marring anyone wiht kids. I hate to say that, but it just makes it so much harder with other peoples kids in the mix.

My first marriage was when the both of us were too busy figuring out who we were and what we wanted to do. Looking back it's easy to see where this wasn't a good idea. Add the fact that we were both stoned during the civil ceremony and you don't exactly have the groundwork for a stable marriage. We split up after 3 years, but I didn't divorce her until I was ready to commit again (she didn't seek one anyway, so...)

I married my second wife because I not only loved her but discovered she and I could - at the very least - handle each others baggage without going off the deep end. We have problems like everyone else, but we don't take things so far that we can't come back from them.

The fact that I had my son with my second wife ought to prove she's the one I'll be with for the long run. I didn't push the issue with my 1st, because honestly I couldn't see either of us as capable of bringing up a child.

I don't think so. My first wife and I were quite happy before she died in a car accident. My second wife and I are also very happy.

My current wife tells me she is happier in her second marriage (me) although that is not difficult as her first husband was an alcoholic.

I try not to make direct comparisons for my own peace of mind.

Since my first is ending, I'd like to read some of these. Consider this: 20% of first time marriages end in divorce. 60% of 2nd marriages end in divorce. (National statistics) So I'm curious.

i am much happier the second time around. he is a much different guy from the first. i try to always do to/with him the things i know he enjoys and he does the same. we are so opposite on many things so we have both learned to compromise and meet in the middle.
