Greatest basbeall player. . . . Babe Ruth. Hand down. . . . He went from pitching to hitting a baseball out of the park 715 times. that is amazing in itself. He was the King of New York and beloved by so many fans even when he went bar hoping after ball games.

He played at an area when the baseball wasn't juiced and the ball parks were 100+ feet bigger at the fences

That's a good question. They're so many good baseball players. I would say some of the best baseball players of all time would be Yogi Bera, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams. They're all great for many different reasons. They each helped the Yankees win World Series, American League Divisions, great hitters, great on the field and so on.

The obvious answer is sometimes the best. BABE RUTH changed the game of baseball forever. No team was hitting as many home runs as he hit in the early years, not to mention he was a starting pitcher in the beginning of his career and a great one.

94 wins 2.28 ERA 17 Shutouts
Lowest world series ERA Lifetime.

OH yeah!
714 HR's 2200RBI's .342 BA 123 SB's (not bad for a big guy)
NO STEROIDS
NO ARMOR PLATING ON HIS ARMS

He did it on beer and hotdogs

Bottom line the best baseball player of all time.

Barry Bonds. Steroids or not, he was the best hitter ever, and he was also an excellent defender. Bonds put up tee ball numbers in the BIG LEAGUES. He was better than Ruth, better than Mays. No one else dominated entire baseball games like him. Opposing managers spent entire games counting how many batters it was until he was up. Ruth is a really close second because of his pitching accomplishments, but Barry Bonds is the greatest.

Babe Ruth is the greatest player of all time. This guy did it all. Pitched well, Hit well, and Fielded well. He did it all well. There isn't a player that comes close to the Babe.

I think he could of won the Hot Dog Eating Contest as well.
