The above post is correct, however, the messenger service uses 135 for outgoing and inbound data about 95% of the time. Data services such as RPC and NetBIOS use the above ports also, so again 135 is most likely the only port needed to know on the messenger service if planning on blocking the service without actually turning off the service, for what ever reasons you may have.
