And what do you think goes on in the brain that would cause that?

I'm a long haired, die hard Rock&Roller, but the one guy that gets me every time is Roy Orbison. The man had an amazing voice and when he did songs like "Crying", you could tell that not only did he write it, he lived it.

I wish I could have found one with just him, but this one is still good....have your volume up and click below.....

Good question. I've had several songs do this to me over the years. The first was so memorable, I have to share it with you. During the SuperBowl, when Whitney Houston sang the national anthem. This was several years ago, back before she was a crackhead. To this day, when I hear her singing, especially the dramatic ending, I get goosebumps.

The Gipsy Kings for me. I don't think it is anything in our brain. For me, and I would assume for most people, the reason why we become so attracted to certain songs or groups is because the music reminds us of something in our past or something that makes us happy. The thought of those things makes us more drawn to a particular song or group.

Casting Crowns as well. Has a lot to do with the chosen sounds in the music (soundwaves cause effects like this...listen to the THX intro music and you'll get my drift). Sometimes, as in this case, it's the sheer honesty of the lyrics.

There are a few Pearl Jam, The Beatles, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello. They're all great songwriters, they seem to touch a nerve in me, I guess.
