Should fire works really be illegal?

Regardless of the fact that they are, everyone come 4th of july some how manage to get them.....i think they should just legalize them with exceptions.....

I have always been totally for fireworks-used safely of course. And have never had any bad experiences. We love fireworks and I have never totally understood why they are illegal in our state...

That is UNTIL last night.


Last night we were standing in a family members yard. I was holding my nine month old "nephew" in my arms. And my six year old daughter was standing next to me. We were all in the yard enjoying the shows from the neighbors and the city. The three of us were standing off to the side away from most everyone else. All of a sudden I see something coming at us from across the yard. I (in high heals on grass mind you) have little time to react as I manage the baby and pull myself and my six year old out of the way as this loose firework shoots just inches from our head and lands about a foot behind us where it explodes. None of us were hurt but it was scary.
Turns out the neighbor was shooting them off and one of them was defective. It shot off wrong even though they were using it properly and one of us could have been VERY badly hurt.

Now I definitely think that they should be left for state and trained people to work with them.

It is an interesting thought. They're illegal to light off (depending on where you are), but not illegal to buy. In my home town there are at least 42,000,000 fireworks stands, give or take a few. I think they should be legal... with exceptions. If you are going to be consuming alcohol while lighting fireworks they should be illegal. If you are going to be using fireworks as a projectile, launching them at others they should be illegal. If you have ever been convicted of a crime they should be illegal... If you are going to light fireworks while they are still in your hand they should be illegal.
Well... I guess they ought to just ban fireworks all together, because I don't know of anybody who could legally light off fireworks if these laws were put into place!

Ya i think so, there are too many idiots that don't use them properly with the pro cautions that everyone else does, my neighbors tree caught on fire last night, so I wish some people would not use them....

Fireworks should not be legalized because they are dangerous. Children could get them and set them off and kill or injure themselves. Also, drunks get them and set them off and they could be hurt by this. Only specially trained people should have access to fireworks on national holidays.

i think it should be like the dmv... you have to take a test to see if you are smart enough to f*cking buy them. that would save a lot of accidents from happening (of course i believe the same should be said about baby making ablilities)

a guy in my country stuck a cracker up his dog's anus and lit it. His dog died a painful slow death... they should ban them outright. Else there should be such strict rules governign their use with heavy penalties for breaking the rules.
