Cedar decking can be sealed with any good weather stain, Shake Shingle roofing can be sealed with speacial Shake Cedar Shingle sealer. You can get both of these at any Home Depot or a like store.

CWF (Clear Wood Finish) by the Flood Company is by far the best in my opinion. Don't let the name fool you it does come in various colors. The application is a little more involved than just squirting on some thompsons water seal but the performance of the product more than makes up for it.
