2. A yellow card doesn't affect a player until he gets a second yellow card in the same game. This results in a red card and the player must leave the game (a sub CANNOT come in for him, leaving his team to play a man down) and cannot play in the next game. Straight red cards can be given for really viscious fouls or fights. In the World Cup, if a player gets more than one yellow in a series of games than he can finish that game but must miss the next one. Cards start over after group play.

3. Yes sometimes players will get fined. For example, FIFA made it clear that shirt tugging will result in a yellow card and a fine in this world cup. Mostly fines are given for really rough contact (i.e. fights). Fines usually correspond with cards, but it's not a sure thing.

4. National teams play each other within their region, and the top few in each region advance to the World Cup. Yes they do air these games on TV.

5. The first round consists of groups of 4 teams. Each team plays the other 3 teams in their group and the top 2 advance to the round of 16. Teams are given 3 points for a win, and one for a tie. If teams are tied for the top 2, the winner is decided by their goal differential (difference between goals scored on others and goals scored against them).

Well, i'll do my part to educate the unfortunate percentage of the population who do not understand th egreatest game in th world.. hummm.. here goes:

1) Foul - 'bad play' eg: tripping, pushing anotherplayer, diving, simulation, wasting time... You consede a free kick, or could get either a red or a yellow card for fouls, depending on how serious it is. The most serious, like2footed tackles warrant a red card.

2) Red card means, you have to leave the feild. Yellow cardsare a cautin, unless you get two, then it becomes a red and you are sent off the field.

Moving along...

3) Fines.. well, thats up to the disciplinary committee at FIFA.. they review the matches and determine whether to suspend or fine a player.

4) Usually, the qualifier tournaments are aired.. it depends on what country you are in!

5)There are 32 teams to start off with . The teams are in 8 groups of fours. They all play each team in the group. The top two teams in each group (16 teams total) qualify for the 2nd round. They qualify based on points. WIN :3 points, LOSS: 0 points, DRAW: 1 point. If two teams are tied in points, the goal difference will determine who is on top.

I hope this clears it up for you!

1. yellow card: if you foul a lot, insult somebody else, don't accept a foul and protest heavily, dragging the time of the game (by not passing and just standing, not kicking at a free kick, etc), not keeping the correct distance at any type of free-kick, if you leave or enter the field without permission of the ref.
red card: If you commit a HUGE foul (kickin someone on purpose in the nuts, etc), spit, play violent, stop an obvious goal-chance from happening using a foul (diving, shoving, hand, etc), or if you get a second yellow card in one game.
A foul is any kind of attack not relating to the ball against another player of the opposite team (see above if it gets punished by a card).

2. A yellow card is a warning,
two yellow cards in two consequtive games = miss next match,
red card = OUT, miss the rest of this match without a sub, and miss next match.

3. I dont know.

4. i dont know.

5. All the teams are seperated into different groups, and then you play each other team in your group. For a win, you get 3 points, for a tie 1 point and for a lose none. At the end of the round, the two teams of the four that have the most points go itno the next round. If there is equal points, it is decided by the goal difference.

1.& 2. Red cards are instant out of games. if you get one youre out of that game and the next Game as well. Yellow cards are for things worse than fouls but betterthan red cards. If you get 2 yellow cards you are out of that game and suspended from the next. Fouls are the easiest things to get in soccer. If you do something like tackle someone too late or you push someone off of you.
3. Im not sure but i dont think so.
4.i don't know how it works but i do know that they are not aired on TV.
5. The qualified teams are split into groups. The 4 teams in each group play each other the 2 teams with the most points (You get 3 points for winning, 0 for losing and 1 for tieing.) move on to the next round

1. A red card gets you sent off the field and your team has to play down a player because of your actions. It is handed out after two yellow cards or a very serious offense that is dangerous to another player or if you intentionally deny a goal scoring oppurtunity with your hand. A yellow card is more like a warning that the referre gives you but if you do it again it will escalate into a red card. A foul is just a play where you take somebody down but there is no reason to warn them because they either did it by accident or because they just because they were playing the game and got a bit physical.

2. A red card gets you thrown out of the current game and then you are banned from at least the next game. A yellow card is nothing by itself but with international rules if you get one in consecutive matches then you have to sit out the next one.

3. Most of the time the country will pay the fine that comes with card that they get. They don't have to pay for regular fouls only yellow and red cards.

4. The qualification is were you play teams from your continent and which ever teams finish the best in their groups move on to the world cup. Some of the games are aired on TV but most of the time they are not in America but usually in foreign countries. You could probably watch some of them on the Spanish channels.

5. In the first round you play each team in your group once and you get points based on how you do in each game. For a win you get three points. For a tie you get one point and for a lose you get no points. If there is a tie in seeing who gets to move on they use goal differential and then head to head matchups to see who moves on.

Yellow card (minor foul, unsportsmanlike conduct..) is a WARNING
second yellow card in the same game = 1 red card (you're out and your team cannot substitute either). You will also miss thenext game

direct red card (hard foul, foul while other player had a chance to score,..) - you're out at once, your team cannot substitute AND FIFA decides how many games you will miss afterwards.

3) depends on the card and incident, but yes, it can happen.

4) 197 countries tried to qualify. They were put into groups (according to their continents), and depending on the rankings of continents (population, number of countries, popularity of soccer, history) the continents then send a certain number of countries to the WC. Europe the most (by far), Australia/Oceania just one (and said team had to play against the 6th placed team of South America). YES, in most countries, those games are EVENTS and very important and on TV.
5) 8 groups, 4 teams, each team has a "set" team (high ranking, history) then out of different pots they get 3 other teams. The pots are geographically in order so that it's certain that for example no south american teams are in the same group. The top 2 in each group make it to the next round (each team has 3 games to determine the Top 2).
