Definitely, He had the best offensive line, the best running back, a Great Tight End and a Great Wide receiver, not to mention he always had a good defensive team also. If Marino had those weapons for all those years he would have won 5 Super bowls easy.

" The number one overall draft pick in 1989, Aikman played twelve consecutive seasons as quarterback with the Cowboys. During his career he was a six-time Pro Bowl selection, led the team to three Super Bowl victories, and was the Super Bowl XXVII MVP. Aikman was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and to the College Football Hall of Fame on December 9, 2008 in New York City. No. Even tho I'm a Steelers fan, I have a lot of respect for Troy. Yeah, he had good people around him. Lots of QB's are surrounded by good players, yet they never make it to 3 SB's.

Hell yes Aikman is overrated!

I think he is a fine example of a player who had great success in his career but did NOT deserve to go to Canton.

Aikman was consistent enough but was not the reason for team success. Position by position that team was more talented than Aikman. A was just lucky to be on such a good team.

Aikman was glass too.

Yes, but only slightly. I think he was a great QB but had a lot of quality players to help him win those three Super Bowls. Marino was the best in my opinion but will never get the credit Aikman gets because he never had a good enough team around him to win it all.

Troy Aikman was a great QB. He was also blessed with great players around him most of the time.

I'm a Giants fan so I'm biased from the get-go, but I would have to say that if you consider him an "elite quarterback" then yes, that is overrating him. The Cowboys team he had around him had it all: one of the best defenses, a Hall of Fame running back, coked-up receiver... oh wait, never-mind, great tight end, and a impenetrable offensive line.

I don't think he should be looked down upon because he had great guys around him, but I also don't think he's as good a quarterback as some of his contemporaries.

He was a great talent that was fortunate enough to have a team surround him with excellent talent as well. When he was in the big games, he won them and that tells allot about someone. He as not the greatest QB from a fantasy or statistic perspective because they had Emmit and he could just hand the ball off over 60 % of the time.

Absolutely NOT!! How can he be overrated? He won 3 Superbowls in 4 years. That is not an overrated QB, that is a winning QB. My Cowboys have not been the same since he retired.

Big Time!!

Don't get me wrong, he was a good QB, not a great QB, anyone that says he was a great QB doesn't know football very well. He was just surrounded with good players that made he look better than what he really was.

And yes, if you haven't guessed it, I'm not a Cowgirl ( oh, sorry, Cowboy ) fan!
