One minute and one second (61 seconds).
Reason: It takes 1 minute to fill half the jar. However, the bateria doubles every second. So each of the bacteria filling half the jar multiplies itself into two bateria -- thus doubling the size and filling the jar -- in one additional second.

There is no such thing as ONE BACTERIA and TWO BACTERIAS: gramatically you should speak of ONE BACTERIUM and TWO BACTERIA. Aside from that, if the jar is half-filled after one minute and the population doubles each second, the jar is filled after SIXTY-ONE SECONDS.

y = 2^x
(1/2)y = 2^x
y = 2^(x + 1)
since it took 60 seconds(1 minute) to fill it half full, it will only take it another second to fill it all the way.
61 seconds or 1 minute and 1 second
