A "mac" is a nickname used to describe computers made by Apple Computers (the ones that make iPods)- they make both the computer (hardware) and the operating system, Mac OS X Tiger, (software) that you use on an Apple computer
A "PC" is a computer that runs the Windows operating system (made by Microsoft) on a third party computer (made by Dell, HP, Compaq, etc.)
To see more differences, watch the new Apple ad campaign at http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/
