The Neo-Cons are acting More like independents these days because they are interested in a diff rent part of the conservative base than many other Republicans. There tend to be two camps in the GOP. There are the conservative Christians who are liberal in the traditional meaning of the word. The Christian Conservatives believe in a great deal of government power and oversight. They believe in the government telling the people how to conduct their lives. The more traditional conservative or libertarian camps make up a shrinking part of the GOP. The libertarian conservatives believe that the government should stay out of peoples lives. However, they often feel that "security" is the best way to maintain a society that is advanced enough to be "left-alone" by the government. The point is, the Neo-Cons are trying to move away from the Christians and take a middle road on the social issues because they are only really interested in the national security issue. Thus, by acting like independents, they can say "we are conservative on national security and international affairs issues" but they don't need to get caught up in the social politics of the Christian conservatives.

Since you hold such uninformed yet arrogant opinions, you seem to feel that anyone who disagrees with you MUST be a neocon.

Maybe you should look deeper, do some unbiased research, maybe you'll find our motivations.

Here is our my thinking...I believe we need to work with the leaders in government, whether I voted for them or not. Talk and bashing is nonproductive and a waste of time.
I believe that politicians become more corrupt the longer they hold office. I believe in a small Central government and more Local control ( I talk with my city council woman on a weekly basis).
I believe you can not take from the working to give to those who can but do not work.
I believe those that have taken risk should be allowed to relish in it's rewards however they see fit (though I hope they follow in the steps of Warren Buffet, a great liberal).
I believe those on these pages, YOU as a prime example, feel you can respond in ways that you would never have the balls to face to face.

When will YOU learn that your party doesn't care about you, nor the GOP about the average Conservative.

Now if the not so fanatical left would realize that certain members of the Democrat party are making it impossible for them to ever win an election that counts, and then join the independents on forming a strong third party, things might actually get done in Congress.

People with conservative labels but acting like free-spending liberals when they get in power. It is a shame to me and I'm giving serious look at libertarians and independents because of it. There are some really good people whose party is hijacked by political hacks--kinda like the democrats were several decades ago, I've been on both sides of that fence.

Because liberals call everyone a neocon if they don't agree with them. Many of us are independent and vote for who we think is the candidate who shares our viewpoints. In many cases that isn't a liberal.

Its not shame, its the want to pose as freethinkers who can then convince everyone of their viewpoint, rather than the policyfollowers they are. If they were seen as Republicans, they would be accused of taking Bush's policies and believing them and working up the reasons later. If they are seen as independent, they would be seen as coming up with the reasons and then arriving at Bush's policies later, meaning Bush would be correct.

So they call themselves independent to look reasonable.

Maybe if liberals didn't persecute neo-conservatives, much like they do with good true Christians, maybe they wouldn't have to hide themselves from liberal aggression? Ever thought about that, mister? Doubt it.
