I have heard that it was invented by a relative of mine for the 1929 Rose Bowl. Can this be confirmed? Sources?

I don't know which type of option play. I was just told that it was first run in the 1929 Rose Bowl.

What type of option? HB options WR / TE options and QB options are very different. I don't know how to verify this anyhow.

There are several option offenses: veer, single wing, double wing, wing-T, wishbone, etc. As far as who invented the first option-based attack, I can't say.
