It's odd, but even smart business minded women will conform to a WAG code. My aunt married a footballer after going to uni and flying up the promotion ladder for a multinational bank. Once she'd been married a few years and the career was a distant memory she started dressing like a WAG and complained that the free car my uncle was offered wasn't the spec she wanted.........maybe they go to WAG school and get brainwashed?

The visible WAGs which the media zoom on i.e. England WAGs are generally not great looking...like plain-looking, little piggie Collen McCoullough.
The great looking WAGs are the non-England WAGs like Figo's wife former model Helen Svedin, Totti's wife Ilari and Raul's wife Mamenz. These non England WAGs keep low profile and stay out of limelight. I suppose with they are not so desperate for publicity like the average looking WAGs. :)

People have made the WAGs out to be some kind of damning indictment of British women, but I can't see that it really matters what they get up to. Criticism just comes from jealousy. Walk round any big shopping centre on a Saturday afternoon, and you will see scores of girls doing exactly the same. Buying things, spending money, boosting the local economy. The boutique owners in Baden-Baden love them.

Walk round any town centre on a Saturday night and you will also see scores of girls doing exactly the same. Having a few drinks, having a good time; often without incident. The press and media only show 'selected' footage of what they are getting up to.

They are not really doing any harm. They are not raping or murdering. They are not rioting and smashing up picturesque German towns. They are not detonating bombs on public transport. They are just young women having fun, like every human being is entitled to do. A number of them (Ian Walker's wife, Theo Walcott's girlfriend) have also advertised good causes. That's not gold digging.

The only reason they have become a side-show is because the media have made them out to be one. It's a kind of tabloid, 'give-the-masses-what-they-want' news item.

I think what Cheryl Tweedy said was right about the other WAGs, but if I was her, I would make the effort to befriend all of them, because I'd rather not be surrounded by people when there is a frosty atmosphere.

I like Colleen, for some reason, maybe it's because she advertises for George at ASDA.

I don't like the look of Carly Zucker (Joe Cole's girlfriend), Michael Carrick's girlfriend, Stewart Downing's girlfriend, they just look really b*tchy.

Boring, obnoxious and self-infatuated. I also find them a bad influence on their hubbies/partners. Look at David Beckham how he changed after marrying his wife! She cost him his club and career. i agree with those who call them hangers on because that's all they are. having said that ... Some foot ballers wives are totally different! They have something wags don't have ... Intelligence!!!

Well apparently they all seem to have a job, part from Victoria Beckham and Tweedy (not that they been singing much. like eveyone else i totally agree. soo big headed. they should think how they were before they even met their husbands/boyfreinds. they have nothing to do but shop? so sad. i dont think they even have a job, even though they say they do. They have children, bet they dont even look after them. so no, they dont have a job in my eyes. Ugly coleen must only spend probably about 5 miniute doing her section in one of the newspaper (cant remeber what paper she works for)
