On the 5.3L there is an oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter and one after the converter. This is a photo of what the front or "upstream" O2 sensor looks like: http://www.rockauto.com/ref/Bosch/Detail.html?13474.JPG

Look on Passenger side at back of the Exhaust Manifold. It about the Size of a half roll of life savers and dull silver with one small black wire coming from it. IF, you have Duel Exhaust there may be one on the Driver side, but, I not sure.
The back Sensor is past the Catalytic Converter. Also, if you not see the Front where I said, it may be just in front of the Converter.

in front of the catalytic converter behind the motor, the second O2 sensor is behind the catalytic converter.
They are both in the exhaust pipe, and have wires connected to them.
They should be the only items connected to your exhaust with electrical wires.

On the exauhst that connects to your manifold. There is more than one most likley. You will need to take both of them off and check the continuity/ohms with a fluke meter to determine exactly which one is bad.
