First you have to determine your range. Using the major scale(do re me fa so la te do), figure out how low you have to go on the bass side to reach the treble side without loss of ability to sustain each note within. If you are simply singing along with a cd, the singer you are trying to emulate might have a different range that you cannot reach. You might be able to sing the song if you start in a different musical key more suited to your range.

Take voice lessons. It might work. I have been singing since I was 3 and I took voice lessons for 15 years of my life. In my experience it it something you have to start when you are very young.

If you have a music lesson place in your town you could always see if they offer singing lessons. They have voice lessons at a place in my town. Or you could see if Robert Plant would come to your house and teach you. May cost TONS and TONS of money but he may be able to help you. And that would be cool too because you'd be able to meet Led Zeppelin's own Robert Plant. Hope I could help

Lessons are good but most important is practice. Your voice is like any instrument, the more you practice the better you will get.

That's assuming of course that you have at least some talent to begin with.

Take lessons. Breathing is important too. When taking a deep breath, don't raise your shoulders. Puff out your stomach. When you are breathing out, your stomach should be contracting. Actors started the raising your shoulders thing on stage to show emphasis. Don't do it.
