I agree with you to a certain extent. My theory is that soccer in most other nations is their national sport, just like baseball is ours. U.S. networks, for example, notice that ratings for soccer games here in the states are increasing so they think that showing all 64 World Cup would be a good thing, and for us soccer fans it is! But people who do not watch soccer or know nothing about soccer, see it as the dumbest thing in the world because who's gonna watch it. Unfortunately the person who thinks it's dumb out number us fans and unfortunately the world only sees the majority.

personally i dont know a thing about american football or baseball....and i dont care too. ive watched the sports before and have practically had to pry my eyes open from boredom. theyre not sissy sports....theyre lame sports.
the united states (and i live there) is totally ignorant about football...cause one, they dont even call it football. and face it, the majority of the country doesnt care about the sport...so a few just dont count.
the rest of the world doesnt care about the superbowl...because its only held in the united states and only played by teams from the united states. the rest of the world doesnt participate in it, so why should anyone care about it or even know about it??? duh....AMERICAN football is not a world-wide sport like football/soccer. thats why other countries put the "american" in there....to differentiate it from the real thing.
stop being so defensive just cause the rest of the world thinks the united states sucks at soccer.

To be fair, our Super Bowl is broadcast and watched all over the world. No joke!
But I think they're right. Most Americans DON'T care about soccer. It's one of the most played sports by young children, but as Americans grow up they gravitate toward other sports. The interest just isn't there. Average soccer players in America earn about $40,000 a year, while baseball players earn millions.

Baseball isn't a sport, it's a pasttime. If you can play 162 games in one season, sometimes 2 on a single day, with certain guys wearing a bearbelly, you can't really consider it a real sport.
The rest of the world ? You mean the 197 countries who tried to qualify for Germany 2006 ?
As compared to the 2 countries (should the Blue Jays qualify) which are involved in the WORLD series ? Laughable !!! You also crown a WORLD champion in the NBA - man oh man, you're either very full of yourself or VERY VERY ignorant, your choice.

Don't worry, my dear lady. Most people, all over the world, don't know much about football. They are just fans, that's all. And very prejudiced at that. Look at what they write about football on this site. Things like Ronaldinho is the best and the best ever. That Brazil was going to beat France and be champions, etc. Even coaches don't know much, choosing players like Crouch, and Carlos Alberto to their teams. Four years ago, everybody and his brother picked Argentina as favorites to win the cup. That was their worse team ever. A team in England paid 30 millions for a player who was completely clueless about the game of football, poor kid. So, again, don't worry. We, the ones that like football in this country, are doing fine.

Leave this topic a lone. You asking this questions just makes you sound ignorant about the sport. Just chill out. If you don't like soccer, then don't. Leave it a long. I know about all the American sports. I personally like the NFL and MLS. Love the NCAA March Madness. The rest of the sports send me to sleep. That's just me. Bringing this topic just adds more wood to the fire.

that's fair enough. americans think others don't understand american football while others think americans don't understand football. so what's the problem? live with that.
one time in a show on discovery channel called 'cash cab', the contestant was asked a question about football and she said, "who watch soccer?" (duh, the arrogance). the host answered, "appearantly the rest of the world" (bravo, ben!).
I guess that answers your question perfecly.
