If you were swallowed right down inside the whale's stomach whilst still alive, I'd say there are a number of ways you could die:-
Asphyxiation from getting too much liquid in your lungs. If not that maybe starvation. Possibly the pressure when the whale dives although I'm not sure about that would affect you while inside the whale.

It's an interesting one and, I must admit, I have though about how weird it would be before.

Good question.

Most definatly, but the whale would probably regurgitate a human rather quickly. Many whale species are actually unable to eat humans, this is due to the specialized teeth that they have, collectively known as the baleen teeth, they are meant to filter out krill and other tiny invertebrates from the water column. Unless you are the size of the head of a pin, you probably wouldn't fit in their mouth anyways. However, there are documented cases of belugas and killer whales "attacking" people, mostly in aquariums, so some whales, the toothed whales as they are called, could possibly eat a human, and it has probably happened in the past.......its not unlikely.

You can't be eaten by a whale - they have a kind of grill at the back of their throats that only small bits and bobs can pass through. You're probably more likely to die of shock - or drowning!

You wouldn't get eaten by a whale

I assume the emphasis is on IF, because whales don't eat people. IF you were swallowed whole (and I assume most whales don't chew) you would probably be digested slowly by stomach acids. That's if you don't drown first or suffocate. Well Jonah made it out OK, so you might just live through it.

i reckon youd drown. i dont think the stomach acid would affect you immediately because taking on that amount of fluid would surely dilute the acid in there.

but perhaps you wouldnt drown / die at all because if you were in whale territory youd have scuba gear and a wet suit on which would both prevent drowning and the effects of the stomach acid. i reckon if you flapped about enough inside and punched the 'walls' so to speak, you could get the whale to regurgitate you, thus allowing you life a happy and fruitful life, out of water, and with one hell of a story to tell.

There won't be any supply of oxygen and one needs oxygen to live. I know you'll think there's oxygen that is taken in by the whale can be given to the person, but it can't cause that oxygen goes to the whales body. Therefore you will die.

Whales eat planktin... not people. Except Orca whales which prefer other sea fare over humans as well!

there are usually parasitic populations of pirates living in the bellies of whales, the whales eat them as tey are attracted by the sounds of "aaaargh matey" and "shivver me timbers" which sound like their natural mating calls, jonah was only swallowed by the whale because it although it is not usualy documented he was on his way to a "pirates of the carribean" party and was getting rowdy, you are only at risk from this danger if you are carrying a large quantity of dubloons or pieces of eight, dont worry youngun i have explained the risks and you will be fine
