American Indians do not celebrate the 4th of July.
The 4th of July commemorates America's (new world settlers) indenpendance from Britian.

We love it, we have a HUGE family gathering and enjoy the fireworks together.

I think the fact that its a great holiday to get our families together and spend time with one another is always a good thing. Natives have great pride in not only their immediate family, but extended family as well.

We are Inupiat in Wales and when we were young we ran foot races, had the rare candy treats, and felt good for our conquerors by being so far away from them. It has been a wild, brain-twister ride since then to get to my sixties and try not to feel anger for the missionaries and the teachers they also brought.

All the Tribal folks I know love any excuse to set off fireworks. But as far as independence from England they couldn't give a rat's ***.
