Momentum equals mass times velocity. Velocity has speed and direction.
A body with more mass has more momentum than one that has less mass, if going at the same speed. A body travelling at a faster rate has more momentum than the slower, if both have same mass. The more momentum an object has, the harder it is to stop, slow it down or alter its course. When the object changes diretion its momentum also changes.
