Why does my hair grow longer throughout my left side of my body. After my last haircut which is 3 months, my left side hair would be almost an inch longer than that of the right.
Has it got anything to do with which part of my brains that i frequently use? Afterall, hairs are dead cells.

Question for you,,,

When you sleep do you lay your head down on your right or left side?

Although our right and left sides do grow at different rates, they tend to be somewhat symetrical. 1st of all 1 inch of hair growth in 3 months is extraordinary even in normal circumstances. Human hairs grow at a rate of approximately 1 centemeter a month. Goes to reason that you hair would grow to 3 centemeters in 3 months.

Differences in hair length depend on the length of anagen (rate at which a hair is formed in a follical, grows and sheds), which is genetically determined. Two people can start off with hair of the same length and go without a haircut for 18 months: the one person's hair will grow only to the collar before it falls out naturally, but another's anagen period is much longer and the hair will reach down to the middle of the back.

Hair facts:

Each human head carries roughly 100,000 hair follicles.

Each follicle can grow many hairs over a lifetime: on average, each grows a new hair around twenty times.

Not all these follicles are actively growing hairs at any one time.
From the moment when it is first formed, each follicle undergoes repeated cycles of active growth and rest. The length of the cycle varies with the individual, and also with the part of the body on which the hair is growing.

The hairs on an adult scalp do not grow in unison, as they do in an unborn baby. They are 'out of cycle' with each other. If this were not so, everyone would go temporarily bald from time to time.

The growing and shedding of hair as a whole seems to happen at random, but for each hair follicle the process is precisely controlled. No one knows for certain, however, exactly how the body controls these cycles.

Plucking a hair from a follicle brings forward the next period of hair growth in that follicle.

Over the years, the number of follicles capable of growing hair declines naturally. The decline is especially noticeable on the top of the head. Some follicles increasingly produce only fine, short non-pigmented hairs that look more like vellus hairs than terminal hairs. In older women, this leads to a general thinning of hair. In men it tends to lead to common baldness. If you look at a bald scalp you will see these fine, poorly pigmented hairs.

What controls hair growth?

No one can answer this question with certainty. What we do know is that it takes a lot to stop hair growing!

General health and nutritional factors are increasingly believed to be important for healthy hair growth. We do know that serious anaemia affects hair growth. So too does starvation: people who go on a crash diet may start to lose their hair

I'd say you are on the right track as far as hair being dead cells. But they aren't dead brain cells. If I understand you correctly I think you are saying that the hair on the left side of you head, as opposed to your whole body, grows faster. In that case I'd agree with the reply that said get a massage. I would venture to guess that the answer lies somewhere in blood flow to the scalp. I am going to assume that you wash and apply any hair products evenly over your whole head. So if one of those was the cause you'd expect it to effect you whole head evenly. A scalp massage will increase blood circulation and should help your scalp all over (plus it feels good). Other things to consider are, do you play with your hair, rub your head, or otherwise pay more attention to the left side of your head. If so you may be stimulateing the hair growth on that side enough to notice the difference. Beyond that I'd say either more details are needed, or if nobody notices, then let's just keep it a secret.

Have A Thorough Head Massage

A thorough massage is necessary to improve the blood circulation of the scalp. By massaging the scalp the hair follicles are stimulated and the texture of the hair is also enhanced...............
