Taste, because it's the weakest sense - you do most of your tasting through your sense of smell.

Talking is not a sense. I wouldn't want to lose sight, hearing or touching, that's for sure. Between smelling and tasting, it would be like having a flu or something. Those are the ones I could dismiss. Maybe taste, as smelling is more abrangent.

Well, I love to ride my motorcycle, so sight is out
I love hearing the loons on the lake at night and listening to music, so not hearing.
Touching - well we don't need to go into that, so I'll just say that I'd like to keep that one around.
I love the taste of good food so I don't think I'd want to lose that.

I know that smell is a big part of taste and that there are many smells I would miss, but I'd have to say I would rather lose my sense of smell than any other.

Hearing, I'm already partly deaf, so to loose it all wouldn't bother me that much. I wear hearing aids now, and i read lips and watch captioning on TV. I can still be on the Internet and talk to my friends and family that way. I'm in the process of learning sign language now. Not to be able to hear music wouldn't be very nice, but as of now i can hear it if it's loud, but i can't make out what they are saying. I have an employee who's parents were both born deaf and they get along fine. If the phone rings or the doorbell, the lights flash in the house. If the alarm goes off for them to wake up the bed shakes. They feel vibration by someone walking. His mother is now also blind, and he says that is much harder, especially with her hearing loss, instead of the sign language they used to use with her, they now sign in the palm of her hand so she can feel it. As far as smell goes my father lost his sense of smell after a heart attack. It doesn't really bother him, he did loose weight though at first cause he said he couldn't smell food so the temptation wasn't there. And touching i would always want to be able to touch my loved ones and to type so i could talk them on the Internet when they are far away. sorry for rambling on. :)

probably smelling because ive pretty much smelled everything that i probably ever will, but i still have lots more to hear, and definitly lots more to see, tasting is also something ill always want to do, and of course touching is a sense you cannot live without.

my gran went on holiday a couple of years ago and hit her head on the pavement she lost all taste and smell as they are connected and this has not effected her day to day life so this is what I'd lose if i had to as the other senses are essential to most every day tasks and for the people who live with without the other senses are very brave and i have up most respect for them

Smelling.

I wouldn't want to miss "seeing" my kids grow up.
I wouldn't want to miss "seeing" them dress up and go to the prom or get married or hold their babies.

I wouldn't want to miss "hearing" my kids laugh and play and squeal with delight.
I wouldn't want to miss "hearing" them cry with hurt and pain so I could comfort them.

I wouldn't want to miss "touching" my husband and my children.
I wouldn't be able to live without holding my loved ones in my arms.

I wouldn't want to miss out on all the millions of things to "taste" and enjoy. Humans are blessed with an enormous variety of foods and drinks. If you lost your sense of "taste", eating and drinking would just be essential but no longer enjoyable.

I would miss "smelling", but I could live without it.
I would miss the "smell" of a cleansing rain, a spring rose and clean, fresh air after a new snow. But I could live without it.

Thanks for the awesome question. It really makes me realize how grateful I should be to have all of my senses !

Probably, the sense of smell. All the others seem more essential for a life with quality...

I would have to say smell. Yes you wouldn't enjoy your food as much but you could still taste it. AND...the benefit...wait for it....

You wouldn't notice smelly people on the tubes and trains so you would always have a seat!
