It has to be John Williams. he has composed excellent music for many movies like the Star Wars films, the Harry Potter series, Superman, ET, etc. An example of his great work is the Imperial March which he originally made for Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

oh my! Well I have a couple, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Irving Berlin, Beethoven, Gershwin.....sorry I have a few, but their devotion to music despite obstacles and not to mention some of the time periods, I could not imagine how hard it would be to compose back in Beethoven's time. But their music has survived for all these years and is still great

ludwig van beethoven. he was deaf in 1801 and even after this was still able to create great pieces of classical music. I like his 3rd and 5th symphony the best. he was able to take on new dimensions to his music after he became deaf, and that to me is something that stands out to me - the fact that he never gave up and still was able to produce to the best of his ability. this is what a true composer is all about. he would have to be my favourite. my second favourite would have to be charlie chaplin. i like his piece - "smile". he composed it himself as well as wrote it, and its such a nice song. i've played it myself on piano, and its great.
