He considers questions and problems from a different perspective. This is the same as Einstein who was able to develop the Theory of Relativity thinking from a radically different perspective in normal life and applying it to physics.

I'm not sure if this makes them intelligent but it definitely makes their ideas applicable, practical and possibly changing the fabric of human thinking by expanding the perspectives we have perused thus far.

In a way he is a very unique man but we as a speicies are to self destrutive of our most diverse members as Arman has shown in a way. He asked how the human race will survive over the next 100 years. Most humans would live a care free life without the obsticles of worrying about what will happen later on and therefore lead a much happier life, but as a person's smarts (not intelegence or wisdom but over all) become better devoloped the person can see all the problems with his ideas, with the world, and within most things that they are around. We have so few diverse members because those members useualy have a tragic life because they see the flaws in our exsitance and some can no longer take the "inevidabilities" and go insane, some even suicidal. That is our self destrutive nature.

No. His stature in intelligentsia is more due to the abhorrence people have to attacking people in wheelchairs. People hate genius, and any genius that gets noticed will be crucified, figuratively or literally.
The only genius that made a difference to the world without much personal damage was Queen Elizabeth I, (who survived a couple of assassination attempts).
Einstein reinterpreted Maxwell, as does Hawkings and almost all theoretical physicists. Anyone not smart enough to see that Maxwell has been experimentally proved wrong cannot be considered too smart.
Galileo would not be better treated today than he was in his own day. The genius will tell you that your perception is way off, and he will not be well liked for it.

This question all depends on whether or not he believes in God.
Despite what anyone thinks everything we have is from God. That includes our inteligence. So many people think this world is so advanced because of human evolution. God knew we would be at this point at the time he created the world. He knows where we be centuries from now. As for as the question about the earth surviving another 100 years. For the answer turn to the bible and hit your knees in prayer. The only answers you need are from God.

We have no way of knowing. Measuring intelligence is somewhat subbjective. Now if you asked who has scored the highest on a particular IQ test, then you might have one answer. That is assuming you can get the data.

You should have asked, "Who do you think is the most intelligent person alive today?"

Definitions of intelligence:
the ability to comprehend; to understand and profit from experience.

Definitions of wisdom:
accumulated knowledge or erudition or enlightenment

with all do respect to Mr. Hawkings; i'm sure his wisdom is above average but his intelligents could very well be below average when compared to everyone elses.

The overall intelligents of everyone is always growing as we evolve.

He is not very popular among scientists. He is popular for his books not for his research papers and his theories are not accepted as facts. Still he is very genious, I hope he lives on for ever and I am his big fan!
