Honestly I think their plan is to leave it for the next administration so they dont have to be the ones who had to raise taxes. Kind of the same deal with the first bush, he left his mess for Clinton to clean, which by the way Clinton did an outstanding job

First off, there's really no simple straight-forward answer.

Some Republicans favor "deficit spending", meaning they spend even though the money isn't there. It's often used by governments to get out of a recession. Deficit spending was advocated during the Reagan administration - we needed to get out of the recession plus we needed to beat the Soviets by outspending them militarily - so the US spent more than it took in. The federal deficit went up by quite a bit.

Since then, those who believe in "fiscal discipline," the idea that a large deficit is a bad thing and that we shouldn't spend more than we have, have tried to institute policies to lower the deficit. This includes old school Republicans as well as Democrats. During the 90's, both parties came out with plans aimed at balancing the budget and lowering the federal deficit within "X" amount of years.

However, the current Bush administration (led by Vice-President Cheney) feels that "deficits don't matter". They argue that the bad effects of deficit spending - inflation, high interest rates, etc - are worth it, in light of the fact that the US needs to spend as much as possible to fight the war on terror, among other things.

As for your question of "where will the money come from", it'll come where it's always come from - it'll be borrowed, from various sources. Despite the large deficit, no creditor in their right mind would refuse to lend to the US government. At some point, the money will have to be paid back (w/interest), but that's a problem for future generations.

Republicans are not against Taxing, They are against using the tax payers money in areas that do not benifet the country. There is a lot of money being spent by the government that never helps the country in any way. But we as tax payers, still have to pay for this spending. By making those cuts in spending, we can use the moneys in better ways, like strengthining our military or feeding homeless people. That is the republican view on taxes. Why spend $300,000,000 a year to put up artwork in the capitol buildings, when you could feed 600,000 soldiers for more than a year.

Republicans are not against taxes. All politicians say they're against taxes because that makes them look good to the media. The Rep/Dem tax theories are as follows.

Dems want to tax the people with the most money. This works out to about ten percent of the population paying more than fifty percent of the overall tax income. Reps want to tax the largest group of people by significantly smaller margins, cutting breaks for the people at the very top and very bottom of the income brackets. That means middle class people, who make up most of the population are paying most of the taxes.

Neither is very fair. What the country needs is for the Reps and the Dems to put aside their differences and breed...

They are against taxing so that the next administration can pick up the tab and figure out where the money will come from. Conservatives like to call themselves fiscally responsible, but the current administration is anything but that. Did you know Bush hasn't vetoed a single spending bill in his 6 years in office? How can someone be labeled 'fiscally responsible' with that record?
