In my opinion, it's never easy to break this kind of news to anyone. We must, however, share our feelings - and express that it wasn't our intention to get lost along the way.

Life is full of unexpected twists - but it is imperative that we close one door before we open another.

We must also understand that it is quite possible that we are not 'in love' with this new person - but that we are 'in lust' with them. We need to take some time to discover our new feelings, but not before the past is left in the past.

Also, it is important to discover why your feelings shut down for the person to begin with. I say this because if your feelings shut down a while ago, why did you not break things off at that point, rather then finding someone else to "love" in order to make it easier on you to move forward.

My point is, it isn't fair to the unsuspecting party that you've moved on and can easily break free while s/he now has to deal with your news.

Most may not agree, but I suggest to not mention the strength or depth of your feelings for the other person if you have to say anything at all simply because you do not want to throw a double hurt to your current other half. 1) You're leaving them, and 2) You now love someone else. -- This is all going to be a big slap... so try to minimize the pain by toning down the information you give to them.

You should keep your new found interest low key while you explore your feelings, too- especially if you might run into your (soon to be) ex.

Hope this is helpful.

Telling someone you don't love them is hard, but needs to be done. There is NO reason to tell them you love someone else. Telling them about the other person is just making them hurt worse than need be.

You would be best just to say that you don't have the feelings needed to go further in the relationship so it needs to end. The person might be hurt so don't say anything further about being in love with someone else.

Don't tell them you are in love with someone else (I know the temptation to brag is killing you), just say that things are not working out and you need to move on.

just the same way you told us, don't beat around the bush and the longer you wait the more you will hurt the person you no longer love, it is better just to tell them and get it over with so that everyone can move on with there lives.

u just have to be up front and honest with them. the sooner the better, how would you feel if the person you were with didnt love u anymore and was in love with someone else and u wernt told? its nasty and heartbreaking but you have to tell them.

"It's not you, it's me. I just don't feel like I can commit, I think it's something in my head, I'm just not the same person you think I am and it's tearing me apart. I cant go on like this, I feel that I'm just, like, cheating you out of a life you could have with someone else, that's how messed up I am"
And no, you dont say you're in love with someone else, duh, that's where stalkers come from.

Just say you don't have love feelings for them - don't mention the someone else because it can start a "competition" in their mind - which can lead to "obsession" or "stalking"...

Just tell them exactly how you feel. In the end they will appreciate you for telling the truth.
