That is awful! There is no sense to this type of prejudice or bigotry. If moving is not an option, I would do the best I could to be as compassionate, understanding and kind to everyone as possible. The best way to overcome "evil" is to kill it with kindness! I understand this must be a very difficult situation and I am so sorry that you are facing such ugliness. I will pray that you may find peace and friends in your neighborhood.

I would say fit in as much as possible. Do you all speak the language? Do you have more than one family living in the house? I mean like mom, dad and kids? Are you friendly? I know where I live we had some trouble in my old neighborhood. We had several hispanic families move in one house. They did not keep up the yard and parked cars in their yard and made the house look trashy. Then they killed a goat in their backyard. During the next year more and more hispanic families moved into the neighborhood. Not one house had only 1 family--many families lived in one little house. The way the neighborhood looked it brought our property values way down and we lost money we had worked for --for many years. If you live like the rest of neighborhood does, then you will be fine. I invite anyone who parks in there driveway, keeps their yard nice, that is quiet and good to my kids as a neighbor any day.

Somehow you have to integrate yourselves in the town. Make sure you are not alienating your new neighbors - are you speaking Spanish in front of people who do not know the language (that's considered rude)? Are you participating in town events? I think a lot of times it just takes time, depending on what kind of "harassing" they are doing - do you need to go to the police?
