I don't see anything wrong with royalty, but I think that in the modern age, ceremonial royalty, if they aren't busy governing, should work for a living, and set a good example by living simply and frugally. I like the idea of a nation as more of a family business than a huge heartless corporation, but as an American, the glass is always greener on the other side.

Remember, some royalty live in Trailers on Indian Reservations and Tin Roof Shacks in Africa, not all of them live like the queen of England.

The Hawaiians didn't want to lose their Kingdom but America imposed itself on them. How democratic is that?

Actually no. I think that the electoral system is so corrupt that elected leaders actually take more liberties than Kings. Kings at least had the threat of being overthrown if they mucked it up too badly.

With Presidents and Dictators there is no resolve, Yes there is the threat of Impeachment, but with the modern beaurocracy, it'll never happen.

I say a retreat to an older style of govenment might be a suprising improvement.

Never!

God save our Gracious queen! Long live our noble queen!

et certera

In Britain at least, it's tradition, it's what makes our country special. And what's more, abolishing it would require a complete rewrite of our constitution, which is difficult because we don't have a written constitution. Basically, getting rid of the queen would meen the entire way our government works would have to change, right dow to the most basic levels, and no one can be bothered, the system works perfectly well as it is.

Actualy, it wouldn't have to, but whoever got rid of it would use it as an excuse to change our constitution, possibly get us a written one, which would be catastrophic as far as I'm concerned.

Also, what harm does the monarchy do, they do have some power, but they're sensible enough to never touch it. If we got rid of the queen, we'd probably get some sort of all powerfull president, who would use his power, so that'd be much worse.

royalty should and must be abolished, i hate them, they live in luxury at the expence of a taxpayer, why? but it seems the brits themselves are not sure with what to do on that issue, i asked this same query few days ago and they all told me that the royals bring tourism to UK, i found it vey naive answers, and i realised that the brits they actually dont want the royals but they know it would be one complicated move to make.and a huge debate too. and it will also take some years before they finnaly get out.

The greedy in the world will never see their way to doing what is morally right and as long as they have the money they control the outcome. So my answer would be yes royalty should be abolished because we are all equal in our creators eyes.

Same with all governments, even the USA
You know for Christmas the white house spent 10 grand on a freaking gingerbread house?
The only way to end it is to quit paying taxes and tell them to get off our backs we don't need their mafia butts to protect us from other criminals.
But people are too lazy or dumb to know that they don't need the government, therefor you sell yourself to slavery.

I agree unequivocally.

They are glorified welfare bums. We do not have to pay for their lifestyle and their soap opera. I couldn't care less who sleeps with who in the royal family. Take that money and help the needy. I have no problem with that.

What do they do all day? Give me millions and I will smile and wave hands too.

I think it has been put to an end. We are just waiting for it to fall down and die. Corporations rule the world.
